Villa e Collezione Panza in Varese is one of those places where everything seems to slow down. Contemporary art, silence and nature coexist in perfect balance, creating an intimate and deeply personal atmosphere. Throughout the park and the villa, every space offers a different perspective on beauty: from the hornbeam walk to the belvedere, from the small temple with exedra to the greenhouse, through to the interior rooms such as the Salone Impero, the Sala Beckmann, and the immersive installations by Dan Flavin and James Turrell.

And it is precisely in Turrell's Skyspace — the first ever created by the artist — that a special story was born. Josh and Valerie, a young couple from New York with a passion for contemporary art, had over the years visited several Skyspaces around the world, from the United States to Japan. For them, these were not simply works of art, but places capable of creating connections, emotions and memories.

When Josh began to imagine his proposal, he immediately knew that this had to be the place.

After touring the villa's collection and the stables, the couple entered the Skyspace alone. Standing side by side, enveloped in light and silence, Josh asked Valerie to share the rest of his life with him. When they emerged, a small toast had been discreetly arranged by the villa's staff: two glasses of champagne, the garden all around, and the feeling of having lived through something truly unrepeatable.

On that occasion, Josh chose to make a donation to FAI and adopt one of the villa's rooms, in order to preserve and support the place that would forever remain part of their story.

This is what makes Villa Panza so special: not only the beauty of its spaces, but its ability to transform a private moment into a memory destined to last.
