Only 10 km from Laveno on Maggiore Lake, Villa Della Porta Bozzolo is a country mansion of the 16th century surrounded by a scenographic and monumental Italian garden. Interiors are rich of frescos and offer a sample of the lifestyle of the 18th century of a wealthy Lombard family. In spring the garden offers spectacular flowering of camellias and roses. Inside the Villa you can have a lunch or aperitif by the inner restaurant or you can have a picnic in the garden.

Villa Della Porta Bozzolo is open to the public from Wednesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Last entrance at 5 p.m.

Getting here

By car
Autostrada dei Laghi A8 Milano-Varese direction Sesto Calende-Gravellona Toce, exit Vergiate-Sesto, direction Besozzo-Laveno. After Gemonio continue towards Valcuvia-Luino, until Casalzuigno.

By train
Take a train on the Trenord Laveno-Varese-Saronno-Milano regional line and get off at Cittiglio station.

In front of the station take the CTPI/Line N15 bus, at the Binda/Marconi/Stazione FN stop, to Casalzuigno, at the Valcuvia/Villa Bozzolo stop. The villa is 180 metres away on foot.

Accessibility

Visitors with disabilities and, where applicable, an accompanying person have free access, according to Ministerial Decree 507/97 updated to Ministerial Decree 13/2019 and L.104/92.

In the case of guided tours, events and additional services, only the additional service is charged.

Guide dogs and assistance dogs with a training certificate for accompanying persons with disabilities are allowed, always on a leash, both in the Park and inside the Villa.

The Villa and the Park are partially accessible to persons with reduced mobility or in wheelchairs.

Methods of access and visit:

It is advisable, after prior notification, to access the Villa's ticket office by car; we ask the accompanying person to subsequently bring the car to the car park with a reserved parking space, which will be indicated to you by the ticket office staff
The ticket office is located at the entrance to the complex and can be reached from the car park by following a sloping road
The complex consists of: the body of the building dedicated to the ticket office and services, the Villa on 2 floors plus the cellars, the Spinning Mill, Silkworm and Park
The path to reach the parterre of the Villa from the ticket office is on a slope and has cobbled paving; by prior arrangement, the ticket office staff will open the main gate of the Villa so as to reduce the sloping path the ground floor of the Villa is also accessible from the entrance located in Via Libertà 18
The upper floor of the Villa is accessible exclusively via flights of stairs

The Silkworm Garden, which hosts exhibitions and events, can be reached from the ticket office via a sloping path with cobblestones and lawn
The Spinning Mill, located inside the Park, can be reached via a path with no difference in height, which will be indicated to you by the Villa staff
Some parts of the Park are only accessible via steps and flights of stairs
The Villa has accessible toilets located next to the ticket office
There are seats in the Park and on the ground floor

Comfortable shoes are recommended. It’s possible to eat your picnic basket in the garden.Please, just inform our staff on arrival.

Dogs are always welcome in the Park, but must be kept on a leash at all times. To ensure the protection and preservation of the interiors of Villa della Porta Bozzolo and its collections, only guide dogs and assistance dogs with certificates for accompanying people with disabilities are allowed inside.
