Whether you know it or not, Villa Necchi Campiglio has been the scene of several film shoots. Courted and admired by many, nowdays is the ‘’main stage’’ of great films that have made history or that have left their mark on the hearts of many people and directors.
One of them is Luca Guadagnino who, falling in love with the house, chose it as the pivotal and main location for his film I am love where the apartment becomes the queen and protagonist of the film.
And how to not mention also the latest movie House of Gucci featuring Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Jared Leto and other wonderful actors in a movie that thrilled and talked the whole cinephile scene. Directed by Ridley Scott, Villa Necchi is an important place, home of Maurizio Gucci’s father, chosen for its elegance and beauty and evokes the sense of family that the place has always wanted to communicate.
In addition, how not to mention Villa del Balbianello, directly on the Como’s Lake, with its fascinating location has been the scene of numerous films of the American scene and theater of the international American community, with amazing films, thanks to its majesty.
Surely we can mention the last episode of the Star Wars Saga directed by George Lucas where the Villa is partially used in the 2000s and a few years later, in 2006, Villa del Balbianello is used in the remake of the movie James Bond – Casino Royale with the well known actor Daniel Craig where the location is recreated like a clinic.
Last but not least, from the North to South, we’re in Puglia, where the Abbey of Santa Maria di Cerrate is the location of a TV series called Briganti that will appear in the international Netflix platform next spring 2023. Produced by Fabula Pictures in collaboration with Los Hermanos, directed by Steve Saint Leger (Vikings, Vikings: Valhalla, Barbarians), Antonio Le Fosse (Baby), and Nicola Sorcinelli (Milosc), a crime-western series consisting of 6 episodes, Briganti is set in mid-nineteenth-century southern Italy. A modern, epic and action-packed tale about the phenomenon of brigandage as seen through an unprecedented female gaze, loosely inspired by people, men and women, who really existed.
